Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). She joined NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of a panel discussion at the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms as well as arms control. Mitchell travelled along with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan several times to attend summits and discuss issues like that of the Iran Contra controversy.
